MOVING TARGET: Part 3

MOVING TARGET: Part 3
Episode 541 | 28th November 2007, ITV1, 8PM

After hearing Heaton under attack in the middle of a shooting, Grace and Mason race to the yet another gun crime scene. They will not know until they get there if Heaton or Sagger, who was with him, are dead or alive. This is the second time their boss and the MP have been targeted in as many days.

Alfie Ruiz was seen fleeing the hospital car park where Heaton and Sagger came under fire at the time of the shooting. At Ruiz’s home a secret room is found by Terry. In there are photos of Sagger with Muntaqim, along with a phone message from Mrs Rachel Sagger on Ruiz’s answering phone.

Tony plays the waiting game, which soon pays dividends when Ruiz returns home. Arrested and down the station, Ruiz denies being the gunman. However, he does confess to following Sagger for his soon to be ex-wife Rachel. Ruiz also claims Sagger had a deal going with Muntaqim.

The elusive Muntaqim is eventually tracked down to his office. Only Sun Hill’s officers are too late: Muntaqim is found with a severe head injury and dies before the ambulance arrives. In Muntaqim’s office are all the clues CID and uniform need to deduce who has been on a shooting frenzy – but will they get to the sniper in time?

Episode 540 | 21st November 2007, ITV1, 8PM

Paul Sagger MP and Cleric Nadim Mura have been shot down after taking the stage to speak at the ‘Rock Against Racism’ event. Sagger’s been shot in the shoulder – it’s a non-life threatening injury. Mura’s not been so lucky: the bullet has gone into his lung – he’s in a critical condition. Now the investigation moves on to who shot down these key figures in Canley’s community and why?

Mura summons Heaton to his bedside. Heaton asks if he knows who shot him but Mura only manages to whisper the name ‘Abdul Muntaqim’. Minutes after the superintendent leaves, Mura goes into cardiac arrest and dies. This is now a murder investigation.

Grace believes the shooting could have something to do with Sagger smuggling looted artefacts out of Iraq. On the flip side, evidence strongly suggests it was The Bulldogs of Patriotism that assassinated Mura and shot Sagger, after Jo and Terry find a confession.

Back at the crime scene Grace and Manson re-enact the double shooting and realise it was intended to be a triple attack with Heaton being the third target. Whilst phoning through to the super’ their discovery, Heaton gets into his car with Sagger as it comes under gunfire…

Once the concert is in full swing, the officers there get an argent call about Rafi’s father Ahmed. He is heading to the concert intent on confrontation with the organiser Nadim Mura for leading Rafi astray. Nikki spots Ahmed, and then four loud gunshots ring out…
